It's not entirely a fair way to encapsule the man's career and talent, but there it is. He was in many ways like the Norman Rockwell of sci-fi/fantasy art: incredibly good, somewhat ignored by "serious critics" because of the subject matter and general popularity of his work.<br /><br />My dad would have liked to meet him, I think.
