If junk e-mail is spam, does that mean that junk faxes are SPAS? Or SPAX? Maybe SAX? I don't know, but this is a disturbing trend in my office. Our ratio of worthwhile faxes to unsolicited junk is about 50:50 on a good day but we can get more than 80% junk faxes on some days.
You don't think it's quite as annoying as SPAM because it's not in your face. Until your office starts running low on paper and you're still waiting for your budget to get approved. We work in an effing Public Affairs/Newspaper office. We print crap ALL THE EFFING TIME. We can't really afford to be running low on paper. But here it is, past mid-October, paper flying out the friggin fax machine.
We get ads for travel agencies mainly, but there's all kinds of debt consolidation, business management and others. I'm just waiting for the prescription drug faxes.
But, if anyone else is experiencing this, I have found a resource: Junkfaxes.org. There has to be an end.
